What relationships may form in your research? How will these relationships influence you? I have conducted short term research during child development classes where the subject is observed remotely and not had attachments form. I also taught the same class for two years that was part of my career education research. I developed a strong teacher student bond with my class which was natural and would have occurred without the research. The influence of having a a warm friendship with my students enabled me to look at the data with more of a keen eye as I would ponder student responses in relationship to who I knew them to be.
Will covert methods be needed? What would be the benefit and costs to covert research in your study? Covert research may be as simple as recording daily anecdotal notes at the end of the day without the subjects knowledge, which is perfectly acceptable. Pretending to be an organ donor or buyer to gain information that could potentially expose the moral corruptness of doctors and the procurement process seems quite a valid reason for covertly going undercover.
If I could speak to Benjamin, I would like to ask him these things because I find him interesting and I want to know more about what happened to him. Do you look back at your life and reflect on where you were? Do you see how where you are now is a result of your choices? Do you think about a future that you are able to shape? What does that future look like? I have no questions for Brad as my bias and lack of respect for him is getting in the way of my ability to want to know more about him.
